IOLITEC (Ionic Liquids Technologies), a German company based in Heilbronn, and SATT AxLR have signed a license agreement following work done by teams from the Charles Gerhardt Institute in Montpellier (ICGM).
Peter Hesemann and Bénédicte Prelot, research directors at the CNRS, lead this project in collaboration with the company to optimize the synthesis of ionic liquids composed of acetates. This family of ionic liquids is of growing interest, particularly in the field of valorization of products derived from biomass.
The ionic liquids market is a market shared by only 5 major groups and ETIs and a series of VSEs / SMEs, with an annual growth rate of 11%.
This project suggests the prospect of competitively priced ionic liquids 'acetates', which would allow Iolitec to stand out significantly from the competition.
The SATT AxLR will receive royalties on the turnover generated by the sale of these ionic liquids produced via the developed process.
